2016-17 First Nations Language Teacher Professional Development Grants

The First Nations Education Steering Committee is pleased to support First Nations communities and First Nations schools in BC  by offering one-time grants in support of First Nations Language Teacher Professional Development.  Approximately 25 grants of up to $10,000 will be awarded to successful applicants.  The allocation of the grants will be determined by the quality of the proposals submitted based on the proposal criteria, with consideration of language group representation.

Available funding will be distributed through a proposal process. Only First Nations communities and First Nations schools are eligible for this funding opportunity; however, the inclusion of public schools and public school teachers is encouraged.

The central goals of this program are to provide professional development opportunities to First Nations language teachers, as well as opportunities for collaboration in the creation of much needed educational resources.  Proposals that are clearly linked to improving the practice of First Nations language teachers, or providing resources that will enhance First Nations language programs, will be given priority.
