Who Can Join the IAHLA?
Any Aboriginal governed education agency located in BC that offers
programs for adults pursuing high school graduation, preparatory or
pre-requisite courses for post-secondary education, or post-secondary
education programs is welcome to join the organization as an IAHLA
Member.
An individual or organization, that is not an Aboriginal Education Agency, may apply to become an Associate Member. An Associate Member will be entitled to attend general meetings, and receive information, which is delivered to all Members. An Associate Member will not be eligible to vote or to be elected as a Director.
An IAHLA Membership Form is attached. Anyone interested in joining IAHLA
must return the appropriate form fully completed. The IAHLA membership
form requires the name of an Authorized Representative. For each IAHLA
member, only the designated Authorized Representative is eligible to
vote or stand for election to the IAHLA Board of Directors. The IAHLA
membership form also requires the indication of who can change the Authorized
Representative. (The name of an individual is not required; rather, the
general position or group with this authority is adequate). A change
in the Authorized Representative requires notification in writing from
the person in the identified position or group.
What Will It Cost to Become a Member of the IAHLA?
IAHLA Membership Fees are $200.00 and the membership year is from July
1 to June 30. Institutes/programs are welcome to apply
at any time during the upcoming year, but pro-rated membership fees
are not available for those applying later in the membership year.
Membership fees will be invoiced to applicants once the IAHLA Membership
sub-committee
has approved the application form. Only when IAHLA is in receipt of
the membership fees will the applicant be deemed to be a member in
good standing.
