Further to our January 19th update, the First Nations Education Steering Committee (FNESC) and First Nations Schools Association (FNSA) continue to assist the Ministry of Education with the distribution of COVID-19 rapid antigen tests to First Nations schools.
Please note that First Nations schools will now be receiving a single shipment of rapid tests for both students and school staff. These tests are intended to support at-home testing of symptomatic students and school employees as a supplement to existing health and safety protocols within schools and communities. Shipments from the Ministry of Education are underway and continuing this week.
First Nations schools are encouraged to work with local First Nations leadership to determine how the rapid tests will be distributed.
If tests will be provided to families, the Ministry of Education recommends that a notice be provided to families prior to the tests being sent home. The following communications can be distributed to explain when and how to use the tests:
