The First Nations Education Steering Committee (FNESC) and First Nations Schools Association (FNSA) are pleased to announce a new, one-time opportunity for BC First Nation schools to access grants to design and implement a Modular Course.
Interested BC First Nation schools and Adult Secondary Education Centres that offer grade 10-12 courses are invited to request a grant of up to $10,000 for the design and implementation of a modular course. The grants are intended to support the development and implementation of projects that:
- Provide opportunities for students to engage in experiential learning that is consistent with the Learning Standards outlined in the curriculum.
- Expose students to hands-on and skills-based opportunities in academic and/or non-academic courses that a school or adult centre may not able to provide otherwise.
- Facilitate First Nation schools and Adult Secondary Education Programs in working with experts in a specific field or industry of interest to students, such as a carver, coding expert, carpenter, mechanic, chef, scientist, etc.
The major function of this grant is to support schools in using curricular Learning Standards in the planning, instruction, and assessment of the Modular Course.
